Stephanie Soper is Yorkshire through and through, but she’s also a wanderer, having lived an expat life in France for many years. She now lives in Britain and in Thailand, passing through many countries on the way. As graduate, then businesswoman, she has spent many years in Britain’s stately homes living a Downton Abbey sort of life in Fine Art, knowing what it’s really like to live behind the scenes.
After that enriching period, she spent several years building businesses in the south of France, combined with travels around the world, part of which included time in Australia, where her youngest son went to work and stayed. House exchanges, using her French house in the olive groves above the hills of Nice, has enabled spending many months in other people’s homes and extraordinary experiences that came with this.
She is winner of the Farnham International Thriller Award, besides many others, and has been broadcast on the BBC.
She recently became a member of the Crime Writers Association
Her writing passion, where she likes to develop unusual plots with many twists, means writing several hours a day, and when in Thailand, tops this up with cool showers and a glass of scotch.
Her favourite writing quote is ‘promised twists delivered.’
A dedication in a friends book is also complimentary
The first acknowledgements, giving my grateful thanks, go to my dear friend, Stephanie Soper. A fellow writer and Spilt Ink Writers’ group member, she is a prolific writer in many styles but particularly with wit and repartee, with an uncanny recognition of the absurdities of life, the world and its people. Her kind permission to include her missives, or blogs as they would be more commonly known today, showing the UK perspective on the pandemic as it unfolded, is testimony to that and very much appreciated. Thank you, lovely lady. May we never have to do this again!
